Quick answer
PRULady and PRUMan are gender-specific critical-illness insurance plans. Prudential's September 2025 leaflet says the Life Celebration Benefit pays 3% of BSA per eligible event, up to three claims. At RM100,000 BSA, that is RM3,000 per eligible event and a maximum of RM9,000 across three qualifying claims. At RM300,000 BSA, 3% could be RM9,000 for one eligible event. A wedding payout is not automatic or guaranteed; the event must qualify under the policy terms.
What PRULady and PRUMan are
Prudential describes PRULady and PRUMan as critical-illness plans with cover and benefits designed around gender-specific needs. The current product page also lists recovery, wellness, fertility-related benefits, cash rewards at life milestones and a return of total premiums at maturity. Those are product feature categories, not a promise that every policyholder will receive every benefit. See Prudential's product page and its official September 2025 leaflet.
That distinction matters. A product can list a benefit while the policy still sets the event definition, claim conditions, limits and eligibility. The current policy wording and insurer's assessment decide whether a particular claim qualifies.
How the RM9,000 example is calculated
Prudential's official September 2025 leaflet states that the Life Celebration Benefit pays 3% of BSA per eligible event, up to three claims. The arithmetic works out like this:
- With RM100,000 BSA, 3% is RM3,000 for each eligible event. Three qualifying claims could add up to RM9,000.
- With RM300,000 BSA, 3% could be RM9,000 for one eligible event.
These figures explain the calculation. They do not guarantee a claim. A marriage may qualify only if the event and claim meet the policy terms; the current policy documents set the conditions and limits.
What else is listed, and what to verify
The product page groups the plan's features under critical-illness protection, recovery, wellness, fertility, life-milestone cash rewards and a return of total premiums at maturity. The leaflet gives more detail, but it is dated September 2025. For any specific benefit, ask which event is covered, what evidence is required, how the limit works and whether another claim affects the policy or a later benefit.
Avoid treating a feature label as broad cover. “Fertility”, for example, does not mean every fertility treatment, pregnancy complication or baby-related condition is covered. The policy's definitions and conditions matter.
There is also a document-date issue. The PRULady and PRUMan sample PDS files linked from the product page are dated 18 November 2025 and state that the information is valid only until 18 December 2025. That stated validity has passed. The linked PRULady PDS and PRUMan PDS should not be used as current quotations or a source for today's detailed terms. Ask Prudential or your adviser for the current PDS, policy wording and a personalised sales illustration.
How to compare it with cover you already have
Before considering another policy, put your current critical-illness and life cover beside your budget. Check what you already have through personal policies and workplace benefits, the amount that would be paid for each covered event, and whether the premium remains manageable over the payment term.
Then compare the new plan on the same basis. Ask for the premium schedule and payment term, the covered conditions and definitions, the limits for each benefit, and what happens to the policy after a claim. A reward tied to a future milestone may be appealing, but it should not take priority over a protection gap you cannot afford to leave open.
What to request before applying
Ask for the current PDS and a sales illustration prepared for your age and chosen coverage. Use them to confirm:
- the premium and how long you must pay it;
- the covered conditions and the exact definitions used;
- each benefit's trigger, limit and claim requirements;
- how a claim can affect the remaining cover and future benefits; and
- whether the premium fits your budget alongside existing protection.
Your application may also be subject to the insurer's underwriting and acceptance. If the current documents do not answer a question clearly, ask before applying.
