My story成长故事


I didn't set out to become a financial planner. I graduated in Electronic Engineering, majoring in nanotechnology, and became an engineer. That path wasn't a passion — it was a practical choice. In a manufacturing city like Penang, engineering jobs were easy to find and paid relatively well. My father was nearing retirement, so I had to start earning quickly and share the family's financial load.我并非一开始就立志成为财务规划师。大学时毕业于电子工程学系,主修纳米科技,之后成为工程师。选择这条道路,并不是出于热爱,而是现实考量——在槟城这样以制造业为主的城市,工程师不但容易找到工作,起薪也相对优渥。当时我父亲即将退休,我必须尽快投入职场、分担家庭经济责任。

Growing up in a family that wasn't well-off, I saw early how money creates stress and conflict. Even then I understood that how a family manages money shapes its happiness and stability. I didn't yet know what "financial planning" meant, but I knew one thing for certain: I had to learn to manage money.成长于一个经济不宽裕的家庭,我从小耳濡目染金钱带来的压力与纷争。那时我就明白,金钱的管理,决定了一个家庭的幸福与安稳。虽然那时的我还不了解「理财」是什么,但我心里清楚一件事:我必须学会管理金钱

Through my engineering years I never stopped exploring personal finance. I worked part-time as a Public Mutual unit-trust consultant and a Great Eastern life-insurance agent — gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the products commonly sold in the market. I worked by day, and studied for the CFP qualification at night and on weekends.在当工程师的那几年,我不曾停下对理财的热情探索。我曾兼职担任 Public Mutual 的信托基金顾问,以及 Great Eastern 的寿险代理人,一方面积累实务经验,一方面也更深入了解市面上常见的理财产品。白天努力工作,晚上与周末则进修 CFP 课程。

Along the way I discovered that Malaysia did have independent financial planners who work on the client's side rather than to sell — still uncommon back then, but exactly the role I aspired to.在学习过程中,我才真正发现:原来马来西亚也有不以销售为导向、站在客户立场的中立财务规划师——虽然当时仍不普遍,但这正是我所向往的角色。

Two years later I earned the CFP® qualification and was formally licensed under FAR and CMSRL. I could finally stand on the client's side, independently, and help plan for their future. I found work I genuinely love — and made it my mission to pass on financial knowledge, so that more people from ordinary families like mine can take control of their lives through planning.两年后,我取得 CFP® 专业资格,并正式获得 FAR 及 CMSRL 执照。我终于能够以中立身份,真正站在客户角度,为他们的未来出谋划策。我找到了真正热爱的事业,也立志将理财知识传递出去,让更多像我一样出身普通家庭的人,也能透过财务规划,掌握人生主导权。

In Malaysia, personal finance was never part of formal education. Many people only realise it when a major life event hits — marriage, a child, illness, retirement — that financial planning isn't optional, but foundational and best handled early. If you're independent, will you still help me arrange or buy financial products?既然你立场中立,你还会帮我代理或购买理财产品吗?
Yes. As a licensed financial adviser's representative, my biggest advantage is not being tied to any single company — I work across the whole market. Once your plan is set, I can shop around and arrange the insurance, unit trusts or PRS that fit you best across companies, saving you the hassle of running between providers.会的。作为持牌财务顾问代表,我最大的优势是「不绑定任何单一公司,而是面向整个市场」。方案定制好后,我可以帮你货比三家,跨公司配置全马最适合你的保险、信托基金或 PRS,省去你跑多家公司的麻烦。
How exactly are you different from an ordinary insurance agent or fund advisor?你跟外面的普通保险 Agent 或基金 Advisor 有什么具体不同?
An ordinary agent belongs to a single brand and can only push that company's products. I'm an independent licensed financial planner, free to screen and combine products from most major life-insurance and fund houses in Malaysia. My starting point is your financial goals — not any one company's sales targets.普通代理员隶属于单一品牌,只能推销自己公司的产品。而我是独立的持牌财务规划师,全马绝大部分主流寿险、基金公司的产品我都可以自由筛选整合。我的出发点是你的财务目标,而不是某家特定公司的业绩。
If I plan with you, will I be forced to buy products?找你做理财规划,会额外强制我买产品吗?
Absolutely not. Our core value is a neutral financial health-check and objective plan; the planning fee is fully decoupled from product sales. Whether you later arrange any products through me is entirely your decision — we simply use our cross-platform reach to shortlist the best-value options for you.绝对不会。我们的核心价值在于中立的财务健检与客观方案,收取的规划费与产品销售完全脱钩。后续是否通过我来配置金融产品,决定权完全在您手中,我们利用跨平台优势只为您筛选高性价比的选择。
Is buying through you, across companies, more expensive than going to an agent myself?通过你跨公司配置产品,会比我自己找 Agent 买更贵吗?
No. Insurance and fund charges are regulated — arranging through me costs exactly the same premiums and product prices as buying from the company directly, with no markup. The difference is that I compare across companies to shortlist better-value options, instead of looking at just one brand.不会。保险与基金的收费受监管,通过我配置,保费与产品价格和你自行向该公司购买完全一致,不会额外加价。差别在于我能跨公司为你比较,帮你筛选性价比更高的选择,而不是只看单一品牌。
I'm in East Malaysia / out of state — does online consultation affect the experience or process?我在东马/外州,线上咨询体验和流程会有影响吗?
Not at all. Everything runs online one-on-one via Google Meet or Zoom, and most of my clients are already spread across Malaysia. Online is not only efficient — it makes screen-sharing charts easier and protects your financial privacy well.没有任何影响。我们全程通过 Google Meet 或 Zoom 进行线上一对一远程咨询,目前大部分客户都来自全马各地。线上沟通不仅高效,而且能更方便地进行屏幕共享展示图表,同时也很好地保护了你的财务隐私。
