Eligibility warning: This guide is only for local employees. Foreign employees are still required to participate in LINDUNG 24 Jam and cannot use this guide to opt out.
Short Answer
To opt out, a local employee must register or log in to the official PERKESO LINDUNG Faedah portal. After logging in, select BAHARU, read the scheme information, choose the complete “SAYA MEMILIH UNTUK TIDAK MENYERTAI” declaration, select the relevant employer, tick the voluntary-decision declaration, and then select Hantar.
The portal will then show a final warning. Only select the following button if you have decided to opt out:
Sahkan, Saya Tidak Mahu Menyertai
Before submitting, make sure you understand that contributions already paid will not be refunded, you will lose LINDUNG 24 Jam coverage for non-work accidents during the opt-out period, and you must notify your HR or employer separately.
Source-status note: The statements about no refunds for contributions already paid, the July 2026 contribution exemption, when the opt-out takes effect, and the ability to rejoin without retroactive coverage came from remarks by PERKESO’s Group CEO at a 10 July 2026 press conference and related media reports. As of this article’s fact date, some of these details had not yet appeared in formal written guidance. Actual handling remains subject to PERKESO’s latest written information and response.
1. Contributions Already Paid Will Not Be Refunded
According to remarks by PERKESO’s Group CEO at the 10 July 2026 press conference, contributions already paid will not be refunded because coverage was already active for the relevant period.
According to the same press-conference remarks, local employees who opt out in July 2026 are exempted from the July 2026 contribution. This does not mean earlier contributions already paid will be refunded.
During the current phase, the contribution is 0.75% of applicable wages. For wages of RM6,000 or above, the contribution is up to about RM45 per month.
2. Opting Out Creates a Coverage Gap
Once you opt out, LINDUNG 24 Jam will not cover non-work accidents that happen during the opt-out period.
Rejoining later will not fill this gap. Coverage resumes only after contributions restart, and it is not retroactive.
3. You Must Still Notify HR or Your Employer Separately
Your employer handles the contribution payments. After submitting the opt-out declaration, notify your HR or employer separately and ask them to confirm that they have received your instruction.
It is currently unconfirmed whether the online portal automatically informs employers. Do not assume your company already knows just because you submitted the form online.
You Have Three Choices
Choice 1: Do Nothing and Remain Covered
If you do not submit an opt-out declaration, your existing contributions and coverage continue.
Choice 2: Compare Before Deciding
If you are still considering whether the contribution is worthwhile, whether your Personal Accident insurance can replace this protection, or whether your existing coverage leaves a gap, complete the 1-Minute Check: Are You More Likely to Keep It or Opt Out?
Walkthrough verification: YFD verified the live PERKESO portal on 13 July 2026 from login through the final confirmation screen. YFD did not select the final confirmation button and did not complete an actual opt-out. YFD also did not verify any post-submission success screen.
Step 1: Open the Official LINDUNG Faedah Portal
Go to:
https://lindungfaedah.perkeso.gov.my/
Check the address in your browser before proceeding to make sure you are on the official PERKESO portal.
Step 2: Register a New Account or Log In
If you already have an account, select Log Masuk and log in using your email address and password.
If you do not have an account, select Daftar Akaun and register using your full name as shown on your IC, IC number, email address and a password you create.
Go to the official PERKESO LINDUNG Faedah portal and log in. If you do not have an account, select “Daftar Akaun” to register first.
Step 3: Tick the Three Registration Checkboxes
When registering a new account, complete the required details and separately tick the three boxes to agree to PERKESO’s:
Terms and Conditions;
disclaimer; and
personal data protection notice.
These three registration checkboxes are different from the voluntary-decision declaration shown later in the opt-out form. Do not confuse them.
Step 4: Select “BAHARU” After Logging In
After logging in, select BAHARU under the application type.
Step 5: Read the Scheme Information and Listed Benefits
Before continuing, read the scheme information and listed benefits on the page. Make sure you understand which LINDUNG 24 Jam benefits you will no longer have after opting out.
After logging in, select “BAHARU” and read the LINDUNG 24 Jam scheme information and listed benefits before continuing.
Step 6: Select the Complete “Not Participating” Declaration
The page shows both the participation and non-participation options. Do not rely only on button colours. Read the wording carefully and make sure you select this complete declaration:
SAYA MEMILIH UNTUK TIDAK MENYERTAI Skim LINDUNG 24 Jam. Saya memahami bahawa saya tidak akan layak menerima manfaat yang disediakan di bawah Skim ini dan tidak akan mempertanggungjawabkan majikan atau PERKESO terhadap sebarang akibat yang timbul daripada keputusan saya tersebut.
This declaration means you are choosing not to participate and understand that you will no longer be eligible for the scheme’s benefits.
Step 7: Select the Relevant Employer
Under PILIH MAJIKAN / Select Employer, select the employer responsible for the relevant contribution. Check that the employer details are correct before continuing.
Step 8: Tick the Separate Voluntary-Decision Declaration
Tick the declaration confirming that you have read and understood the information provided, and that you are making the decision voluntarily without pressure or coercion.
This is one separate checkbox. It is different from the three checkboxes used when registering a new account.
Step 9: Select “Hantar”
Check the opt-out option, employer and declaration again. If everything is correct, select Hantar.
Select “SAYA MEMILIH UNTUK TIDAK MENYERTAI”, choose the relevant employer, tick the voluntary-decision declaration, and then select “Hantar”.
Step 10: Review the Final Warning Before Confirming
The portal will display “Adakah anda pasti?” and list the benefits you will lose after opting out.
If you are still unsure, select Kembali to go back and check. Only select the following button if you have decided to proceed:
Sahkan, Saya Tidak Mahu Menyertai
This is the final confirmation. YFD stopped at this screen and did not select the button.
The portal lists the benefits you will lose again. Only select “Sahkan, Saya Tidak Mahu Menyertai” if you have decided to opt out.
What to Do After Submitting
After completing the final confirmation:
Save the successful-submission page, confirmation message or a screenshot for your records.
Notify your HR or employer separately that you have opted out.
Ask them to confirm that they have received your instruction.
Check your subsequent payslips or contribution records.
Contact PERKESO if the portal record, salary deduction or effective date does not match what you expected.
YFD did not complete the actual opt-out and did not verify the post-submission success screen.
According to remarks by PERKESO’s Group CEO at the 10 July 2026 press conference, the opt-out takes effect when PERKESO receives the declaration. As of 13 July 2026, this detail had not yet appeared in formal written guidance. Contact PERKESO if you need to confirm the effective date of your individual submission.
How to Rejoin After Opting Out
According to remarks made at the same press conference, local employees may rejoin after opting out.
However, coverage resumes only after contributions restart and is not retroactive. A non-work accident that happens between opting out and restarting contributions will not become covered simply because you rejoin later.
As of 13 July 2026, these rejoining details had not yet appeared in formal written guidance. If you want to rejoin, confirm the required procedure, contribution arrangements and coverage-resumption date with PERKESO and your HR or employer.
Common Problems and How to Contact PERKESO
Do not submit repeatedly or guess what to do if:
you cannot register or log in;
your full name or IC number is not accepted;
you cannot see BAHARU or the opt-out option after logging in;
the relevant employer is not shown;
the final confirmation screen does not appear after selecting Hantar;
you do not see a submission record after completing the final confirmation;
deductions continue after you have informed your employer; or
you want to rejoin but are unsure when coverage will resume.
Before contacting PERKESO, prepare your IC number, submission date and any relevant screenshots so you can explain the issue clearly.
