Quick Answer

Download and save your Great Eastern e-Medical Card first, then keep your policy schedule and the current provider locator somewhere easy to reach. TGJ, short for The Great Journey, is Great Eastern Malaysia's network of selected healthcare providers. It helps you find services, but your policy terms still decide whether a visit, treatment or expense is covered.

What to prepare before you need care

The easiest time to get your documents in order is before you need them. Start with your e-Medical Card.

  1. Download the e-Medical Card. Sign in through Great Eastern's e-Medical Card page and save the card somewhere you can open quickly. Keep your password and one-time password private.
  2. Keep your policy schedule with it. Check which plan you selected and where your policy lists its limits, deductible, co-insurance and exclusions. The schedule and contract are the documents to check when you have a coverage question.
  3. Update your contact details. In e-Connect, go to My Service Request → Update Personal Details so Great Eastern can reach you about your policy.
  4. Save the current healthcare provider locator. Hospital, clinic, pharmacy and physiotherapy listings may change. Check the current list before planned care.

What TGJ is

TGJ stands for The Great Journey. It is Great Eastern Malaysia's selected network of pharmacies, GP clinics, hospitals and physiotherapy centres. The services depend on the provider and your eligibility.

TGJ is a provider network. It does not replace your policy or decide whether a particular expense is covered. Your policy contract and schedule do that.

Great Eastern's current FAQ lists hospital-routing requirements for some plans. For this policy, ask Great Eastern or your servicing agent to confirm the correct hospital and admission route before planned treatment.

If you need a clinic or hospital

For a clinic visit, check your policy or ask Great Eastern whether the clinic visit or referral fits your plan. The insurer says clinic pathways can differ by medical plan. A clinic's participation in TGJ does not, by itself, mean an outpatient visit is covered.

For a hospital admission, use the provider locator to check the hospital's current panel status and whether it is a TGJ Hospital. Great Eastern says the Guarantee Letter (GL) facility remains available at all appointed Panel Hospitals. TGJ Hospitals may offer extra services, subject to the current arrangement and your policy terms.

Tell the hospital that you hold a Great Eastern policy. Ask how it will handle the Initial Guarantee Letter (IGL) and whether you need to prepare a deposit. A TGJ Hospital may waive an admission deposit, but the waiver has exceptions. A deposit may still be requested before the IGL is issued, when charges exceed your limit or entitlement, when a deductible or co-insurance applies, when an expense is excluded, or if the GL is declined. A GL does not change your policy terms or guarantee that every bill will be paid.

Pharmacy and physiotherapy after discharge

For TGJ Pharmacy offers, open the Great Eastern Rewards Malaysia app, complete account verification and check The Great Journey Pharmacy Privileges before you visit. Participating pharmacies and offers can change.

The app also provides access to PharmaAssist, a participating pharmacy's WhatsApp service for pharmacy-related advice. The advice is given independently by pharmacy professionals. It does not represent Great Eastern and does not affect Great Eastern's claims decisions.

Cashless physiotherapy at a panel centre is limited to eligible post-hospital treatment after an admission under a cashless arrangement at a TGJ Hospital. A referral from your treating specialist is required, and other policy conditions apply. If the cashless conditions are not met, you may have to pay first. Any later reimbursement depends on your policy.

If it is an emergency, seek medical care first. For planned care, check the policy and provider arrangements ahead of time. Great Eastern's Customer Service Careline is 1300-1300-88. For TGJ service questions, its Healthcare Services Careline is 1300-1300-18 or healthcareservices@greateasternlife.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is TGJ?
TGJ is The Great Journey, Great Eastern Malaysia's network of selected pharmacies, GP clinics, hospitals and physiotherapy centres. The services and eligibility depend on the provider and your policy.
What should I check before a planned admission?
Great Eastern's current FAQ lists hospital-routing requirements for some plans. Ask Great Eastern or your servicing agent to confirm the correct hospital and admission route for your policy before planned treatment.
Does a Guarantee Letter mean I will not have to pay anything?
No. A hospital may still ask you to pay a deposit or other costs, including when a deductible or co-insurance applies, a charge is excluded or exceeds your limit, or the Guarantee Letter is declined. Your policy terms still apply.
Is post-hospital physiotherapy automatically cashless?
No. Cashless physiotherapy is subject to eligibility and policy conditions. The current TGJ guidance requires a cashless admission at a TGJ Hospital and a referral from the treating specialist for this facility.
