Quick answer
Eligible STR recipients may receive RM50 to RM200 a month under SARA 2026, depending on their STR category and eKasih status. The assistance is credited to MyKad for approved essential items. There is no separate SARA application.
For the August status check, LHDN's FAQ dated 15 August 2026 specifically says eKasih data received by 20 July 2026 is used to determine eligibility and payment for August. An older general LHDN webpage displays a different review date. This difference should not be treated as evidence of a policy change or used to predict anyone's result.
The viral poster claiming that everyone will receive another RM100 for National Day is not a new official aid announcement. The Ministry of Finance has denied it. A genuine one-off SARA Untuk Semua RM100 credit had already started on 9 February 2026 and remains valid until 31 December 2026.
Checking your SARA status in August? Start here
- Your August result may reflect eKasih data received by 20 July 2026.
- Your STR category and eKasih status determine which monthly rate applies.
- The amount table does not confirm your personal eligibility or starting month.
- You can check through official channels without using links from forwarded messages.
- Monthly SARA and the one-off RM100 are separate benefits.
Two SARA benefits, two different payment structures
Monthly SARA 2026
This is monthly shopping assistance for eligible STR recipients. The credit goes to the recipient's own MyKad.
Recipients who meet the Miskin or Miskin Tegar eKasih criteria receive the higher rate for their STR category. Other eligible STR recipients may receive a lower monthly amount.
SARA Untuk Semua RM100
This is a separate one-off RM100 credit for adult Malaysian citizens who hold a MyKad. It can be used from 9 February to 31 December 2026 at participating shops for items in 15 approved product categories.
It is not a new payment for August or National Day.
Monthly SARA amounts
LHDN's FAQ dated 15 August 2026 lists these amounts:
| STR category | Miskin / Miskin Tegar eKasih | Other eligible STR recipients |
|---|---|---|
| Household | RM200 per month | RM100 per month |
| Elderly person without a spouse | RM150 per month | RM50 per month |
| Single person, age 21 to 59 | RM100 per month | RM50 per month |
Do not multiply the monthly figure by 12 and assume that will be your total. Your yearly amount may differ based on your STR category, when your records were reviewed and the stage at which approval was given.
The table explains the rates. It does not confirm anyone's personal eligibility. Check the official system for your actual status, amount and starting month.
How to check through official channels
Check your eligibility status
Use either of these addresses:
Avoid short links sent by strangers, even if the message uses a government logo.
The official FAQ says SARA status may be checked or communicated through the SARA portal, SMS, WhatsApp from MyKasih or an STR approval letter. This means an SMS or WhatsApp message from MyKasih can be an official notification route.
However, official channels do not request personal information through SMS or WhatsApp. Do not reply with your MyKad details, banking information, OTP or password.
Open the official portal separately to verify your status. Do not follow a forwarded or shortened link just because the message or poster carries a government logo.
Check the balance linked to your MyKad
SARA is not an ordinary cash payment into your bank account. Eligible recipients use their own MyKad at participating shops to buy goods from 15 approved essential-item categories.
You can check your balance through the SARA portal, the relevant application or your shopping receipt. Keep the receipt until you have confirmed that the amount deducted is correct.
Call when the result is unclear
The LHDN FAQ lists these enquiry numbers:
- BKK HASiL: 1-800-88-2747
- Ministry of Finance: 03-8882 4565 / 4566
- Yayasan MyKasih: 03-7720 1800
Before calling, compare the number with an official government or SARA page. Do not rely only on a WhatsApp screenshot.
Is there another RM100 payment for National Day?
No. The Ministry of Finance denied the viral claim on 5 August 2026. There is no newly announced National Day RM100 payment.
The genuine one-off SARA Untuk Semua RM100 is the separate benefit explained above. Do not use any link claiming that you must register or submit personal information to receive another RM100.
What happens to unused SARA credit?
Unused monthly credit can be carried forward and added to the following month's allocation. LHDN's FAQ says any balance still unused when the programme ends on 31 December 2026 will expire.
If your purchase costs more than your available SARA balance, you pay the difference yourself. The same applies to goods outside the 15 approved categories.
Look for the SARA or MyKasih label before paying. Keep the receipt so you can check the items and transaction amount later.
Common questions, answered plainly
“I qualify for STR, so will I receive RM200 every month?”
Not necessarily. RM200 is the household rate for recipients who also meet the Miskin or Miskin Tegar eKasih criteria. Your STR category and eKasih status both matter.
“Must I apply for SARA separately?”
SARA eligibility is generally determined using STR and related records. It is not handled through a separate ordinary application form.
If your STR application is still unresolved or has not been approved, deal with that through the official STR channel.
“Someone sent me a registration link. Can I fill it in?”
Do not use the link in the message. Type the official SARA or STR address into your browser yourself.
The Ministry of Finance has advised the public to verify aid information through official channels and not rely on unverified posters.
If your eligibility is not showing yet
Could the result change after an STR appeal?
LHDN's FAQ does not set out a separate new SARA eligibility appeal process.
However, if a later STR appeal is approved and you meet the relevant STR or eKasih conditions, your SARA eligibility may be recalculated according to the STR approval phase. The official notification will show the actual amount and starting month.
Can I withdraw SARA as cash?
No. It is mainly shopping credit linked to MyKad for approved essential items.
Can a family member use my MyKad for me?
LHDN's FAQ says the recipient must use their own MyKad for the purchase.

LHDN's SARA FAQ issued on 15 August 2026 is the primary source for the amounts, checking channels, balance rules and eligibility explanation. Ministry of Finance announcements were used to verify the RM100 rumour and the SARA Untuk Semua payment period.

The 15 August FAQ explicitly states that eKasih data received by 20 July 2026 is used for the August eligibility decision and payment. An older general LHDN SARA webpage displays a different review date. This article does not interpret that mismatch as a policy change or use it to infer personal eligibility.
